Proposed Mbogolo Bridge along the Mtwapa-Kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi A7 Road

Main Contractor: M/S Victoria Engineering Co. Limited

Scope: Undertaking field investigations (drilling of 2 No. boreholes to depths of 30 meters each), laboratory testing and preparation factual and engineering geotechnical report.

Barlaw Limited was sub-contracted to conduct geotechnical investigation in support of the proposed Mbogolo Bridge in Kilifi County.The primary purpose of the investigation was to establish the subsurface stratigraphy at the bridge site as well as determine the geotechnical parameters of the subsurface materials for use in developing recommendations for safe and cost-effective foundations.

The fieldwork for the survey, which primarily involved drilling of 2 No. exploratory boreholes, was executed in the period between 23rd April and 1st May 2022. Field work was subsequently followed by laboratory analysis of the material samples recovered from the respective boreholes. All the fieldwork was carried out in accordance with BS 5930: 2015 (code of practice for site investigations).
